The All-New, All-Different Fanboy Force

When I started the Fanboy Force blog and YouTube channel back in 2013, I had a desire to share my comic buying and collecting adventures with other fans who would stumble across my blog posts or videos. I thought to keep the blog and channel interesting I would have to keep relevant – reviewing all the newest comics, toys, statues, and other merchandise. That proved to be way too daunting and expensive for me to keep up with, so over the last couple of years I’ve really let the Fanboy Force content drop to the wayside. I thought at the time that if I wasn’t talking about the newest events and speculating on the next hot book that people wouldn’t give my little blog the time of day, and so it came to a silent end.

It’s now the middle of 2017. The world of comic fandom is still shifting and growing larger, and the scope of my own fandom has expanded with it. Since I started this blog in obscurity and posted YouTube videos that I was sure no one watched, a larger community of fans have taken to making blogs, YouTube channels, and podcasts. It’s an ever-growing community full of positive, friendly, helpful, and fun fans – the sort of people who I’d like to go to conventions with. With such a broad range of topics to discover (comics history, industry tips and profiles, current comics discussion- you name it, someone is covering it) there truly is something for everyone out there, and that made me realize something obvious, but important. I don’t have to be talking about the latest and greatest stuff to be relevant. The whole purpose of this blog is to share my passion and enthusiasm for comics with other fans, right? What better way to theme my blog than to just write about whatever the hell I want to- it’s very liberating!

So that is what Fanboy Force will be moving forward. I might review the occasional comic, trade, or movie, but for the most part this blog will be my new outlet for my general thoughts, opinions, memories, and musings of all the stuff that has brought me entertainment and joy throughout the years. Comic books, movies, toys, statues, conventions, collecting, music, Disney, sci-fi, horror… These are my passions and I would like to share my adventures in fandom with you.

I encourage feedback as I post new articles and remodel the blog. Ultimately, I’d like Fanboy Force springboard into an online community of fans who want a positive, encouraging place to share their passion, showcase artwork and writing, and enjoy all aspects of being a fan. As always, you can reach me at FanboyForce@gmail.com.

I am also an amateur artist and am learning how to become a penciler. I will probably be posting some of my artwork sooner or later and discussing process and what it’s like to learn to really draw. I also have some articles concerning Rebirth from DC Comics and my personal history with comic books and its culture, and would like to start showcasing some of the cooler collectibles I have obtained throughout my travels. If this stuff sounds interesting and cool to you, then by all means subscribe to the Fanboy Force blog, and make sure to visit me on YouTube (Fanboy Force) to see haul videos and statue reviews. You can follow me on Instagram, too, if you’d like - @theshawnstrawbridge. I hope that you enjoy the future of the All-New, All-Different Fanboy Force!

Take care!
